REPLACE AIR FILTERS
Normally the air filters should be changed on a monthly basis. The filter should be removed completely and replaced with a new one. We recommend getting filters that retain the highest amount of dust.
SEE IF THE CONDENSER HAS ANY DEBRIS ON TOP
This one is another easy step to do. Go outside and see if there are any leaves or branches on top of the condenser, then just clear them out. While doing this you can also check if the slab that is keeping the condenser upright is still in good shape, or if anything else is out of the normal. Possibly some noise you have not heard before.
CHECK THE AIR DUCTS AND VENTS
See how your air ducts are doing. This is a quick check, just peek through your air vents and see if you can see any dust or turn on the a/c system and see how fast your home cools down. By doing this you can tell if your system is still working efficiently as well as if you need an air duct cleaning.
CHECK AGE OF SYSTEM
Many people are not aware, but the average lifespan of the HVAC system is about 10 – 15 years, depending on the brand and capacity the system has. Make sure you know when it was last replaced. With this also check the Thermostat. Many don’t realize that updating the thermostat can help lessen energy bills as well as and it is more convenient. We install NEST thermostats, ask your technician.
